Plotly Presents: The Rise of Vibe Analytics

calendar

September 23, 2025

The future of data analytics holds so much more potential than just chatting with your data or click-and-drop interfaces. With the right approach, AI can generate data interpretations and testable insights that enables a new way of engaging with data in a kind of “improvisation for insights”. This is the analogue of vibe coding. This is vibe analytics.

There are no better experts to discuss vibe analytics than our guests Michael Schrage and Brian Julius:

  • Michael Schrage is an MIT Sloan research fellow and author of the authoritative study of vibe analytics. His research at the intersection of behavioral economics and applied AI has uncovered the emergence of generative AI-powered improvisation with models in an approach he calls “vibe analysis”. He asserts that the value from vibe analysis comes from facilitating more collaborative human-AI engagement and more quickly generating actionable insights.
  • Brian Julius is a 6x LinkedIn Top Voice in data analytics and AI. As an independent consultant, he works at the leading edge of implementing AI in data analysis and shares his learnings on Data Mad Science. His work is informed by constant experimentation with the latest LLMs, agents, Power BI and Plotly Studio. He has unique and timely insights to share on the changing role of the data analyst.

This event also marked the debut of Plotly Studio, the first Agentic Analytics offering to offer 1 billion knowledge workers to gain instant insights from their data using AI. In only two minutes, anyone can go from data-to-insight, generating amazing, sophisticated visualizations, dashboards, and data apps in a fluid workflow we’re calling ‘vibe analysis’.  If you are a data analyst pro, you can go much further through its spec-driven BI development and AI-powered natural language iteration. And for the Python- and SQL-capable, you can verify the results and extend the data apps since everything is implemented in code, backed by a natural language specification.

With Plotly Studio, you simply feed your data, watch it evolve in code, specs, or both, and instantly see your ideas come alive as interactive dashboards, visualizations, and data apps you can share with anyone.

From finance to research, from the C-suite to the lab bench, Plotly Studio gives every mind the power to see new patterns, tell stories, and spark change faster than ever before. Welcome to analytics at the speed of thought.
